School Meals

We know that eating well-balanced meals throughout the day has a positive impact on students’ focus and attitude to learning.

Did you know – if you receive certain benefits, your child may be entitled to Free School Meals? Every day children and young people across Sheffield are missing out on their free school meal. Sheffield Springs Academy encourages families to check if they are eligible apply here .

Children may be entitled to free school meals if their parent(s) or carer(s) are in receipt of any of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods) 
  • Income Support
  • income based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income related Employment Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit as long as you have a yearly household income of less than £16,190 (as assessed by HM Revenue and Customs) and do not get Working Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)

School Lunches

At Sheffield Springs Academy we provide students with a great choice of food, including easy 'Grab and Go' options for those who don't require a hot meal. 

Students have the choice of food including various hot meals and salads from the canteen, drinks are also available.
